What is Toast

Toast is a cloud-based point of sale (POS) and restaurant management platform. They were built specifically for restaurants and offer table-side ordering, menu modifications, online ordering, and labor management.

Toast Data

The Toast POS is a transactional system that captures massive amounts of complex check level detail. Each transaction, or guest check, holds a variety of data including:

• Server/Cashier
• Check Number
• Guest Count
• Check Open Date/Time
• Menu Items
• Tender Type
• Total Sales
• Tax
• Change Due
• Check Close Date/Time

And those are just the items you see printed on the check. The Toast POS also tracks destination, revenue center, discounts, promos, comps or coupons and more.

A large amount of labor data is also collected through the Toast POS:

• Punch In Time
• Punch Out Time
• Tips
• Total Pay
• Overtime Hours
• Overtime Pay

Toast Integrations

Mirus clients are able to not only integrate Toast data with other data sources but the analytical architecture of the Mirus platform allows them to blend data sources to get a complete picture of their business. Integration allows data to flow from one system to another and is usually limited to one point of connection. Blending data describes many points of connection across many systems, giving you total access to your data.

Mirus uses an API to pull check level detail from Toast into your data warehouse every fifteen minutes. Intra-day polling of the data gives you fast access to your data. The information goes through a rigorous tie-out process to verify numbers you can trust.

Toast Reports

The analytical architecture of the Mirus platform gives Toast users complete access to all the data collected by Toast. That information is combined with other data sources in each client's data warehouse. Mirus' user-friendly report writer gives clients the power to create custom reports and alerts with ALL their information. 

While Toast does provide a number of reports there are a few limitations Mirus is able to help with. According to our clients:

• Very few report options that allow you to see information for all locations at once.
• Difficult to change the way the data is presented.
• Menu data and historical sales summaries are limited.
